"No Device Detected"

E

Eddie

I have WMP 9.0 and a few months back it stopped
recognizing my CD-Rom device when trying to burn a cd. It
plays cds fine just won't burn them. For some reason it
is unable to detect my burner. I have tried different
brands of cds and still the same problem. I use other
media software to burn like Nero, Roxio and Jet Audio,
and there is no problem. They work great. So I know the
problem is WMP and not my burner. I have been using WMP
for about three years and I really like it the best when
burning cds. If anyone has a solution to this problem let
me know. Thanks alot for your time, -Eddie

You probably have a conflict between WMP and the other software. Choose one
that you really want to use (Nero is the best) then delete the others -
except WMP.

Disable the IMAPI Burning ROOM Service in XP and concentrate on Nero.

Jerry

It's at least comforting to find out I'm not alone with
this. I downloaded media player 9 and a bunch of fixes and
patches for XP but cannot copy files from my music library
to CD. MP opens the file and can play it but "no device
detected" appears in the right screen. I DO have a CD-ROM
drive (D)and can use it whenever inserting an installation
CD or playing music. Jerry, is there a way to find out
which programs are conflicting?
Thanks
Pete.

Nero probably, it hates being on the same PC as Rowio, for example. YOu'd
have to have a dual boot to make them both work successfully.

That being said, Nero IS the best burning software package around.

Cheers,
Jerry
