My computer recognizes a blank CD, but Media Player does not

I am trying to burn a CD.

When I place a blank CD in my burner, I am automatically asked which action
I would like to perform.

But then after I am redirected to WMP and I click burn CD-- my CD is ejected
and WMP asks that I insert a blank CD. It will not recognize a blank CD

Any help greatly appreciated--
