No automatic shutdown

When I set up win2K it shows MPS Uniprocessor instead of
APACI Compliant in Device manager and will not
automatically shutdown. APACI is enabled in BIOS. When I
changed the driver in Device manager (to APACI Compliant)
the computer blue screened and I had to reinstall windows.
I couldn't repair it because when setup started windows
the computer shutdown. I am afraid to edit the regestry in
Current user/controlpanel/Desktop PowerOffActive key
because I don't want to have to reinstall windows again.
Any ideas?

I solved a simlar shutdown issue in Windows 98 SE by
unticking the 'pci steering' checkbox under PCI, System in
Device manager from control panel. After reboot it will re
detect any pci cards, but enabled me to shutdown
automatically ! Not sure if it will be the same for win2k
but worth a try!
