no audio

after rebooting my windows xp home edition I down load my programs and
drivers then download my upgrades from microsoft web sit either the service
pack 2 removed my mixer or one of the 47 other downloads took me out has any
one any idea what happened

I have been working on this problem for the last 3 hours and as a last resort
I am going to uninstall all of the microsoft updates and reinstall them one
at a time to see if I can find the culprit.. If you figure it out sooner
please post...

I found the answer at leat for myself,hope it's helpful for you as well..
Make sure that the windows audio service is set to automatic and that it has
not been stopped.
Open Services:
Start
Run
Type: services.msc
click ok
Set startup type to automatic, be sure it is started and click ok
close services and see if the problem is fixed..
