I am trying to transfer a video from a Canon ZR65 DV
camera into Movie Maker. The video works but there is no
sound. I'm using firewire. Do I need a seperate
connection for the audio? I just want the audio from the
video tape and all I can find is instructions for adding
music and other crud. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Jean,

The audio goes along with the video in a firewire connection. You won't hear
it as the capture occurs, but it'll be in the file when you play it on your
computer.

Thanks for your reply, Papa John! I do have a couple
more questions, tho.

Do I need to save the video first before the audio
works? I captured the entire video and played it in
Moving Maker but there wasn't any sound then. So, the
audio won't show up as being there on the timeline either?

I'm sorry for sounding like such a dip, I've just never
used this program for a video before

You should hear the audio once it's captured and in Movie Maker, or using
any other viewer.... seems like it would be a setting or switch of some sort
that you need to find and toggle.

The capturing process saves the video file from the camcorder... expand the
video track if you need to, so you're looking at the audio track in addition
to the video one.... make it bigger vertically and scan the info to see if
you have any audio indicated by the graphics of the sound track... if you
see it, then it's in the file.
