Switching Audio

I am new to Movie Maker and I was trying to make a video montage for the
first half of my video with a music file playing and no audio from the movie
clips and then the second half I wanted to have the audio from the actual
clips play with no sound from the music. However, when I adjust the volume
from the music to the clips I lose the audio from the music file on the first
half. What do I do?!!!

Why don't you just cut the music file so it is the correct length to end
where you want the audio from the movie to start. Then you can apply the
"Fade-Out" effect to the music. IS that what your asking or am I not
understanding you correctly?

I'm sorry, I may not have been very clear. I can cut the music file to the
correct length, however, the problem I have is that you have to adjust the
level at which you want the audio file from the clip or the music file to
play at and it will, seemingly, only let you set the level at one point for
the entire production.

All you have to do is right click and click volume. That volume setting is
only for the currently selected audio.
So right click on the audio within the video and click volume. Set that
level where you want it.
Right click on the leading audio in the Audio/Music portion of the timeline
and set THAT volume where you want it. They are independent of each other.

What I would do is mute the audio on the specific clips where I don't
want to hear the audio from the video. Then I (obviously) wouldn't
mute the audio on the later clips, and also wouldn't add any music to
the music track. You can individually mute the video-audio on clips,
which should solve your problem.
