No audio from my VCR tape

Hello to All,

I am a newbie to Movie Maker and so far I love it. However, I have on ebig
problem: I have an analog VCR and recorded tapes. I can capture the video
just fine, but I cannot get the audio with it. I am going straight from my
VCR with cable to the computer; that is, there is no TV or amp hooked in with
it. The only source of signal is the VCR. Can anyone help with this?

Thanks so much,

Terry

If your main goal is to make DVD copies
of your VHS home movies...you don't need
a computer. A DVD Recorder may be worth
a look.

Starman, what type of video capture device are you using and what type of
connection from the VCR to the computer? Answer these two questions & more
help is possible, but in the meantime:

If you are using S-Video you also need to connect the two audio cables (red
& white output from VCR) (probably with a dual pigtail RCA to miniphono
stereo) into the sound in on either the capture device or the Aux in on your
sound card.

If you are using F (standard tv coax cabling) connectors, you need to make
sure the audio is set up for the proper input on the sound card or capture
device.

If using RCA connectors for video, you must also use the two audio cables
(as above) and make sure the sound settings are correct.

Hello LVTravel,

I am using RCA connections. There are three: one for video & two for audio.
My connections from VCR to computer are right: VCR out to computer in. And I
have tried to adjust every setting in the software...and still no audio. It
will probably be simple, but its bigger than me...I guess. Any more
suggestions?

Thanks,

Terry
