nLite is still in early stages of development. Last I checked two
months ago, lots of bugs were being worked out. You need .NET framework
to run nLite, which is an awful thing. Overall, however, you can't find
better knowledge on making a custom, unattended XP cd or dvd than from
the regulars at the unattended forum of
http://board.msfn.org. Previous
work includes

http://gosh.msfnhosting.com.
I bet these guys make litepc.com's job easy. Shane could just look at
their work and sell an app that works after installing XP, for the less
motivated people. I think it's cooler, though, to start off with a CD
that you pop into the cd tray, walk away, and come back to a fully
customized, operating system with all your apps installed with their
custom registry entries. Even with the latest hardware drivers. Plus
no activation, if you are daring and use the corp files (for your winxp,
or winxpsp1, or soon to be winxpsp2: they need to be corp files of same
version). The corp files float around file sharing land.
You need XP or 2003 to do this, even if you don't use nLite. For those
that only have win9x to make an XP cd *** you can download
http://home.earthlink.net/~storageplace/jdeboeck98.zip, which is based
on Jdeboeck's work, plus some more things added in. I did a few changes
to make the batch files run on 98, plus located some needed dos commands
that would run on 98 and do what the XP commands did. If you have

*** In my case, I didn't have much motivation to switch to xp, but
people I know wanted it. I will switch one day though, cause already
hardware is coming out w/o 9x support and this trend will continue.
Maybe some of you hardcore 98ers can wait till Longhorn comes out, or
use 2003 server. Forget DOS. Now there is WinPE, or BartPE. Hmmm...
