NIC IP address is lost

I run Windows 2K Pro on a network with a Linksys Router
and Switch.

Every day at the same time, my NIC card loses its IP
address and I am no longer able to access the internet
until I reboot the machine. IPCONFIG /renew just hangs.

I also get CoolWebSearch constantly on the machine
despite
running Shredder more than once daily, and I have Adaware
Ad-Watch running active which picks up multiple attempted
hacks daily. Ad-Aware also finds CoolWebSearch MALWARE
every so often. This problem exists only on one machine
on the network.

Any suggestions?

Do you have an anti virus program? I know norton will pick it up as a
trojan. and help you get rid of it. Also try hijack this

I've had better luck using Spy Sweeper to get rid of it, but I also combine
it with CWShedder. I run both so they can "verify" each others results.

I had an issue with my Linksys router not behaving so nicely as a DHCP
server. I just stopped it from doing DHCP and assigned my NIC's a
static IP. In my case I was seeing a bunch of broadcast traffic around
the same time each day and I either would not be assigned an IP or it
was extremely slow to assign the IP.
