What is the schedule of the next release of Windows. I was
curious if XP will be around for a while or is there
something different comming soon.

Unofficially, Longhorn (the next windows version) is still due in late 2005
despite reports to the contrary.

Server version of Windows (2003) just came out this past summer.

Because MS needs to steal frequently, they will most likely release something based on XP that will break some older programs to keep the extortion racket ticking along. That's what they've done in the past.

As the people from Microsoft have continually told us beta testers,
"When it's ready." <G>

As far as I know, the next version is not even in beta yet, so I
suspect it will be quite a while before we see another version
released.

Hey, they are still working on XP64 version! The AMD version is
supposed to come out mid-2004. Although the computers are on sale now!
Hows that for keeping up to date with the world. :-(

There is no schedule. It will be released when it's ready.

It's currently codenamed "Longhorn," but won't be called that
when it's released. Current estimates (just estimates, not
promises) are that it will be in 2006, but estimates, especially
those three years in the future, often turn out to be wrong.
