Newsreader Confusion

Hi everyone,

I'm really confused about reading newsgroups from Outlook. It was my
understanding that Outlook didn't have a newsreader and used Outlook
Express. But when I click on "news" it appears to open a program very
similar to Outlook Express called "Microsoft Outlook Newsreader". It looks
almost exactly like OE, but without the e-mail settings. Where did this
come from? When I select OE from the start menu, it still brings up the
good old Outlook Express complete with e-mail integration. Where did this
"newsreader" program come from?

OL has no newsreader, it uses/links to OE newsreader.
Selecting 'news' from either OL or IE opens the OE newsreader, directly.
You can put a shortcut on yr desktop to accomplish the same thing, e.g.
"%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /outnews being the target.
Where msimn.exe is the OE executable. and outnews is a parameter.
