Migrating Outlook Newsreader

Having completed the migratiuon of most of my desktop to a new PC, I'm left
without a newsreader on the new PC.

I can see that in my Internet Options, Outlook Express is my default
newsreader, but I'm using Outlook Newsreader on this PC. Are there any pros
and cons to which I should use (both look very similar to me)?

How do I enable one or otrher of these apps? Is it just a matter of
creating a shortcut and pointing it to the right .exe file?

How do I bring in all my news accounts and news postings etc?

Outlook uses OE as it's newsreader - that's why they look similar!

The "Microsoft Outlook Newsreader" is just a skinned version of Outlook
Express. They are the same program. As an experiment, click start>Run and
enter

"C:\Program FIles\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /outnews

You'll see what I mean. Then replace the /outnews with /newsonly and you'll
see the other skin: Outlook Express with only news reading functions.

postings/replies.

Hi Gordon.

After reading this it seemed way too complicated for the task I was trying
to do, so I simply re-subscribed to the small number of servers and groups I
had on the old machine, added the couple of extra folders I had for keeping
copies of useful replied and then simply copied them to the new folders (via
a shared documents folder).

Your solutions may have been right for users migrating more than just News,
but this seems to have worked fine and is much more straightforward.
