newer version of XP on computer

when asked to put in the XP home Disc it is saying a newer version is already
installed is this something to do with service pack 3 I am having problems
with my sound think I deleted something by mistake

Yes.

If a driver's disk came with the PC, reinstall the audio driver. If not, go
to the maker's web site and download the appropriate driver. If the problem
is really recent, you could try a system restore.

Are you having problems with your keyboard? Not having any periods in your
post makes it hard to read and some people won't even try.

If you installed a version of Windows with (say SP2) and then updated your computer to SP3, you
cannot use that disk for system repair any longer as your computer is using a newer version than is
on your CD.

You can either uninstall SP3, not recommended, or you can "slipstream" SP3 with your original
Windows CDD and produce a new CD that you can use for system repair. Google "slipstream" for
instructions and software to make this bootable disk.

If it is just your sound card that is giving you problems, check your computer makers web site for
new drivers. Installing new drivers may solve the problem.
