New windows security window

Starting this afternoon, I cannot open Windows Mail without getting a popup
window from Windows Security that says:
Logon to (my server name here) . . . then I must enter my email address and
password. My options were always set to save my password before. This is
new. Is this a change to Windows mail or is this related to my server?
My OS is Vista Home Premium SP1

If you are certain that the username and password are correct,
then that type of error is often caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
For more information on why email scanning is bad, see

I sent an email to my ISP's support address describing the problem and today
the problem is no longer happening.

Sounds like the ISP had to reset your account on the server.
It is unusual for that to happen.
