New to policies

N

Nigel Taylor

My setup is I have a Win 2k3 Srv (Domain Controller) with 12 XP Pro clients.

What I would like to do is create a group policy for the people that log
onto the client machines which would restrict what they have access to and
also I would like to be able to create a login script which would connect
the users to the printer.

I understand that the Group Policy will enable me to restrict the users and
a logon script will connect the printer.

On the server I have been able to go to Run > gpedit.msc to create a policy
for the server but how do I now do this for the XP clients which login to
the domain?

Any help would be appreciated
Nigel

You need to do this through 'Active Directory Users and
Computers' on the DC. Put all the workstations in an OU,
and create a Group Policy Object (GPO) on that OU, then
configure it with required settings.

Hello,

You need to assign the group policy to domain, site or OU.

In Windows Server 2003, you can administer Group Policy with GPMC. For more
information about GPMC, check the site below.

Thanks.
