New System Problem - Won't Boot from CD

Roger J

I just built a new system using the Asus A7N8X Deluxe.

- Ran through BIOS and all hardware is recognized.
- Set BIOS to "only" boot from CD so I can load Windows XP. CDROM is master
on secondary IDE.
- When the boot sequence runs it hangs on "Boot from CD". I take the XP disk
out and put it back in and the drive seems to be working, just no boot.

This seems to be a common issue, but I haven't seen a solution.

Any real experience with this sort of thing is appreciated.

thanks

I'm having the exact same problem with the ASUS P4C800 Deluxe MB. Very
interested in suggestions/solutions that people out there may know
about. Help!?!

Try putting the CD rom on slave on primary IDE channel. I'm doing this on a
P4PE and on an older CUSL2C without ever a single problem. Might be of help.
I set up the BIOS to boot first from the floppy (to use MEMTEST for
example), then the CD and last the HDD. If the floppy is empty it looks for
a bootable CD in the drive, and if that's empty too boots from HD.

Good luck!

Just some thoughts but can you boot to a boot floppy? Have you tried
another Bootable CD or the CD you are trying in another machine?
