Can anybody help me please,I installed the new drivers on my machine like a
fool only to find that i dont need them,I have tried to unistall them in
devivce manager but every time I do refresh they are still there with the
exclemation mark , i deleted the reg entry in the registry ,but every time
i restart the machine i get a message come up that windows is trying to
install the drivers,How do i stop windows searching for the drivers
I have vista home pemium

The installation of the Vista Realtek High Definition Audio driver is a
little different than most driver installations. The first time you run the
installer, it removes the Realtek driver, and you have to restart your
computer. In the meantime, upon reboot, Windows will try to install it's
generic driver; just let Windows do it's thing (It may fail or "succeed", it
doesn't really matter. Should it "succeed", the generic driver won't
work). You then have to run the Realtek installer one more time, and reboot
one more time. Then the new driver will be installed. I'm not sure why
this has become a two-step process. It wasn't always this way with the
Vista version of the Realtek installer.

Thank you for your reply, but i need to know how to stop windows searching
for these drivers

Like I said, Windows will try to find drivers upon reboot after running the
Realtek installer the first time; the first time only un-installs the old
Realtek driver. Don't try to stop the Windows New Hardware found wizard.
Once the wizard stops, just run the Realtek installer one more time.

Have you tried to run the Realtek driver installation a second time?

Thankyou for your reply,i do not need these drivers because my system does
not have realtec audio i use the creative drivers

Then you need to go into your computer's BIOS and disable the onboard Realtek
audio adapter.

Thanks for your reply dean, still need to know how i unistall the old real
tec audio drivers from my machine as i do
Not need them, and i need to know how to stop windows from trying to instal
these drivers
cheers

Thankyou for your prompt reply, Couple of questions here
Where is the BOIS
How do i unistall the the new drivers
How do I stop my pc from trying to install these drives
Sorry if it seems if i am repeating my self hear

You get to your computer's BIOS when it boots up. When you first start or
restart your computer. Consult your user's manual, if you have one, for the
exact key to press.. Usually it is accessed by pressing some function key or
the ESC key. Look very carefully when your system boots and it should tell you
which key to press. Look quickly. It might also be something like "to enter
SETUP press F1" or something like that.

Be very careful in the BIOS, you can make your computer unbootable. The onboard
audio might be on the advanced screen. Look around and you should find it.

Once you disable the onboard audio, Windows will not attempt to install drivers.

However, you should look in Control Panel (Classic view) > Programs and
Features, and UNINSTALL the Realtek HD Audio Drivers.

You should then go to Creative's site and download and install the proper
drivers for your SoundBlaster card.

Thankyou once again for your help cal
I looked in the controle features for the programe it is not there
Is there any other way of deleteing the ghost drivers from my pc prefer not
to go to the bois if i dont have to
also there is no updates for my particular creative sound drivers

You can also go to Control Panel (Classic view) > Device Manager > expand Sound,
video and game controllers, and DISABLE the Realtek HD Audio device (or just HD
Audio Device if it is listed that way). Right click the entry, and select
Disable. However, I think it would be preferable to disable it in the BIOS.

Then go to Control Panel (Classic view) > Programs and Features, highlight the
Realtek HD Audio driver, right click and select Uninstall. You CANNOT delete
the device or the device drivers from within the Realtek HD Audio Manager.

Did you try the Installer Clean Up tool that I posted ??

Also you can use the following driver utility tool to remove and stop that driver. You need to read the documentation on this tool and how to use it.

In Vista and in the RUN box type in the following word without the quotation marks "verifier" and select

In Device Manager, what exactly is the the name of the device under "Sound,
video and game controllers" after the ghost drivers are installed? Is
Realtek in the name, or does it show Microsoft, or does it show Creative?

Well, to get to the bottom of this (hopefully), in Device Manager,
double-click the Device with the yellow triangle. Go to the Details tab of
the Device's Properties. In the drop-down menu, under Property,
choose Hardware ID. Right-click the Value shown and choose Select All.
Copy the value and post it in your reply. It will look something like this
example:

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VENN_10EC&DEV_0260&SUBSYS_02600000&REV_1003
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0260&SUBSYS_02600000

Good morning dean sorry for the late reply i have to sleep yow know below is
the info you asked for cheers
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0880&SUBSYS_08800000&REV_0905
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0880&SUBSYS_08800000

hi dean i found the reg entry in the registry do i dellete this entry
cheers

Did you go to Control Panel (Classic view) > Device Manager > expand Sound,
video and game controllers > right click on the HD Audio entry and select
"Disable"? This should prevent Windows from trying to install the device.

You should NOT have to do any registry editing to stop Windows from trying to
install drivers. Upon a reboot Windows will just add them back.

Read your instruction manual and see how to go into your BIOS. Then turn
off onboard sound, usually in something similar to integrated peripherals
section.
