Can I plug in a USB device into my PC USB port even if I do not know which
one it takes, or can you use a USB 2 in any PC. OR must the USB port be
compatible to use USB2.
Hopefully that asks my question
Regards Mark

You can use USB 2.0 in a 1.1 socket but will only work at the lower (11mbps)
speed. In other words it is backwards compatible.

Could you explain that? should I buy a USB 1.1 Or 2
Will it make a difference to me which one I purchase

If your computer has USB 1.1 you can use 1.1 or 2.0 but you will not have
any benefit of USB 2.0.

If your computer has USB 2.0 you should stick to 2.0 as it's quicker. You
can use 1.1 but will be slow.
