|I am planning to buy laptop & PC, what would be the best config. for home use.

First thing I'd do is list what each one will be used for; what programs will you be running and their requirements.

If you're going to be surfing the Internet and some e-mail the specs will be much different than if you're going to be doing movie editing and dvd burning.

Hi,

This is a good deal on a Systemax and this machine should meet your needs.

If not then here is a list of all their systems.

These are really great machines, great warranties and I've sold many of
these systems. The first one I bought 3 years ago was very impressive in the
way they put them together inside the case. All wires, cables, etc. where
tied up not to get in the way of the air flow across the board and
processor.

All the best,
SG

Well if you are going to be editing movies then I would suggest you want the
most powerful processor with as much RAM and the largest HDD you can
possibly afford....

My two cents,

I recommend either Dell or Sony home systems.

You may want to set a budget and then compare different configurations for
the most suitable one - only you can decide that. Dell makes it a lot
easier to try different configurations and choose one that is the best for
you.

For a desktop, I'd recommend at least:

(1) 19" monitor with 128MB dedicated VGA memory,
(2) 1GB memory,
(3) 100GB HDD

For a notebook, get a 15" or larger screen and the rest are similar to the
desktop.

For general purpose, I won't spend too much money on CPU. Instead, I will
put money on things like VGA card, memory, or monitor.

Hope it helps and good luck.

You are right. My interpretation was "watching" movies. LOL.

Well, maybe OP will let us know.

And in fact if I was buying a new machine, whatever it's usage - that's what
I would do anyway.....

I can understand.

But for me, what I would use and would recommend are two different things.

I drive a Porsche but not everyone would appreciate its performance, so I
won't recommend everyone to get one.

Do they make a Porsche estate car? ;-)

A Porsche? Would that be the truck, or the car?
