Why has Microsoft created a new Mouse driver (Version
5.0) that lacks the ability to assign specific functions
to buttons for different applications. This is a huge
step backwards. The optical-wired-mouse running under the
driver version of 4.1 was a good mouse with a good driver
and was considerably better than the competition. Now,
with the mass production of wireless-optical-mice, prices
have fallen; thus an increase in demand has resulted.
However, Microsoft is no longer the producer of the best
mice due to the fact that they drop certain features that
set their product out from the rest. Why can't they
create good products consistantly? They have the
recourses and yet they make the latest driver for their
new mice (That includes the wired-optical-mouse) worse
than the one before it. Does unique selling point mean
anything to microsoft.
I suggest that Microsoft brings out another driver,
version 6.0.1.9 (If you will) that has all the features
that drivers before it had. Moreover they state that
their mice can be configured for both left handed and
right handed use. Well they can to a point but not the
most important point and that is the "Arrow Cursor" is
always configured for a right-handed person. A simple
reflect option might be nice for those that are left
handed. Microsft has the ability to do it but it seems
that they cannot be bothered. Which is why unless
microsft produces a driver for my "Wireless Optical Mouse
2.0A" that is at least as good as version 4.1 but for the
new wireless-optical-mice I will be choosing Logitech
from now on. Maybe they don't care about my problem, but
then, maybe I am not the only one. Will Microsoft have to
rely on software sales alone, perhaps not. But their
overpriced software could have something to do with the
level of piracy that goes on. Is this a problem, well if
Semi-Pro computer programmers can be bothered to write
keygen programs I think its possible.
