New Motherboard - XP won't load

I installed a new motherboard in my computer. I have XP Professional - Retail
verison - NO OEM. I did the repair install as suggested in various posts in
this forum (twice so far). My problem is I can only boot from the XP disk. If
I take it out XP always crashes and the computer restarts. Any ideas
suggestions?

A repair installation is *usually* sufficient after installing a new
motherboard, but not always. Sometimes a clean reinstallation is
required. It would appear that you fall into in that "clean
installation required" category.

That may be the case... something I'd rather not have to do but... let me ask
one more question... When XP loads from the cd the computer only accesses it
for a moment and then loads from the hard drive. I can actually take the disk
out as soon as I see the Windows screen...

Someone else mentioned that I need my motherboard driver disk...

Thanks for the help but I have it figured out... In the bios it was booting
from the wrong hard drive... made the switch and presto XP boots from the
hard disk.

Great! Glad you got it solved, and glad you didn't have to do a clean
reinstallation.
