New mail doesn't show

I have a computer that won't show any new email until you click on an
existing email in the inbox. This pc is on a LAN with Exchange 5.5 so it
should receive email instantly like all the others. The client is Windows
2000 with Outlook 2000sp3
any ideas?

It sounds like you have a firewall bliocking UDP packets. Consult the MS
Knowledgebase.
