File \i386\ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loade
The error code is
Setup cannot continue.....

I can, on some tries, get past this into the install process but then get various file "corrupted" error messages such as
The file dmboot.sys is corrupte
Press any key...

Hardware
All brand new
WD 250G hardrive Primary IDE Master
NEC 2500a 8xDVD+RW Secondary IDE Maste
No flopp
AMD XP 3.0 CP
Shuttle mainboar
ATI All In Wonder 9600 video boar

I get the same errors when attempting to install Win200Pro or WinXP Pro
Realizing this could be more than one problem, any help appreciated

Greetings --

Problems copying files or corrupted files during installation are
most often caused by defective or sub-standard hardware; in order of
likelihood, either RAM, the hard drive, or the motherboard. On much
less frequent occasions, a bad CD or defective CD drive can also cause
this.

Seems the install may be mis-interpreting your mb as a dual processor. This
article may help.

HOW TO: Specify a Specific or Third-Party HAL During Windows Setup
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=216251

You didn't mention the drive controller (possibly SCSI, or ultra DMA, or
ATA100, or raid, or serial ATA), but you may need to boot the Windows 2000
setup disks or CD-Rom and *F6* very early and very important (at setup is
inspecting your system) in the setup to prevent drive controller detection,
and select S to specify additional drivers. Then later you'll be prompted to
insert the manufacturer supplied Windows 2000 driver for your drive's
controller in drive "A"

If you wait and then S to specify additional drivers, then it may be too
late as Windows 2000 Setup at this point may have already assigned the
resources your drive's controller is wanting to use.

Thanks for the suggestions. Apparently it was the drive controller that was detected incorrectly by Windows setup.By hitting "F5" during bootup it was possible to specify a "safe" HAL through the Phoenix bios.Windows was setting up an ATA100 drive controller, the "safe" HAL used ultra DMA. The install then proceeded normally. The link you provided gave accurate instructions on the solution (for anyone else having the same problem).THANK YOU!
