New Install of XP SP3 PC Freezes 10-20 sec after bootup

I just notice after installed a clean XP Sp3 CD onto new hard drive, got all
the updates off the site when i boot up i see desktop & all then i cant
click any icons for 10-20 secs like it pauses. I check my antivirus AVG
disabled it & booted again it wasnt that causing it. I am think i got the
net framework 1.1 & 3.5 will that cause it?

No - the .NET Frameworks should not cause any pauses.

Does it work fine after that short period of pause?
Did you install all the latest hardware drivers from the manufacturers?
Just 'how clean' is this install? What all starts up (MSCONFIG, Startup
tab)?

yes works fine after the pause. no problems
this in startup of msconfig.

thats on the startup tab of msconfig

it is likely that you have to reinstall some
third party programs in order to get them
re-integrated with your new version of
windows.

incidentally, don't forget to make a restore
point "and"

don't forget that if you need to revert to
sp2 you can do an add/remove programs
on the sp3 update.

the cd had sp3 on it cant revert to sp2
i dont have any programs installed they boot up with windows.

I was reading i never installed my via drivers thought sp3 had them in, no
errors in the device manager but i went to www.viaareana.com & got the
lastest ones made no differece, so wasnt that.

its not big deal just after boot up have to way 20 sec or more to click
icon

incidentally, see if disabling
your index service has any
impact on your issue.
