Following my sig is a repeat on the message I origionally posted in case
anyone needs to see it. Posting now because things have taken a turn that
I'm considering to be strange. I borrowed a relative's USB mouse,a 3 button
scroll wheel model with a mouse ball made by Belkin and used it with my
laptop for a good while. The problem I described with my Micro Innovations
mouse never happened, indicating that the problem is with my mouse. I
brought my mouse to work and plugged it into the comp I use there, an older
but running good desktop with Win98 Second Edition 4.10.2222 A and used it
like that for awhile. Again, the problem didn't happen, which suggests the
problem isn't my laptop.
To sum it up, now there is indication that, since my USB mouse works fine
with other comps and other USB mice work fine with my laptop, my mouse and my
laptop don't like each other and *that* mouse only has a "malfunction" when
plugged into *my* laptop and no other. But how can that be? Any ideas?
Thanx in advance
Take care

A couple months ago, I got a Micro Innovations optical USB mouse for my
laptop. It was 100% plug 'n' play, no need to install any software, just
plug it in to a USP port and off I went. Most of the time, it works fine.
But it does have a flaw. Sometimes when I left click, the cursor 'll lock up
for 0.5 to 4 seconds during which my HD chatters as HD's normrally do, the
light on the mouse goes out, the click doesn't register nor do the buttons
work at all and if the mouse moves during that time, when it does come back
on, the cursor 'll snap to where it should be according to the movement and
the buttons work normrally.
Sometimes and thankfully less often, the light stays out, the buttons don't
work, I get an error message from the lower right saying "USB device not
recognized" 'n' something about "A USB device has malfunctioned and Windows
doesn't recognize it." I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to
work. I tried speaking with Micro Innovations tech help who e-mailed me a
driver that, though it installed flawlessly, didn't fix the flaws. A month
ago, for unrelated reasons, I had my HD wiped and WinXP Home replaced with
WinXP Pro. That didn't have any effect either. Anyone know what these flaws
might be an indicator of and how to fix them?
