Just had to buy a new HDD as the last one failed, just out of the warranty period.
Not sure if it's the HDD or that the Motherboard or PC is on the way out??
Now just updating drivers & software, so crunching may be down for a day or so.

Now wondering if the North/South Bridge Chips are at fault on the motherboard.
Which ever controls the HDD, sometimes a but stuttery even with new HDD?
Not sure, will monitor it and if HDD fails again could be the motherboard is U/S.
The pc is however 6.5 yrs old so has done well!!

Really you think six and a half years is a good life span for a pc ??

I have just retired a 2008 build that is still running and gaming very well indeed. An I have just given away a Thunderbird powered pc that I got in 2004 secondhand that was also running sweetly.
