new hardward found problem

Help. Whenever I turn on my computer now, I receive a "New Hardward Found"
notice -- even though I didn't add anything recently. It continues to say I
have a new CD drive/CD burner without drivers installed and I must install
them. The next automatic screen says the drivers found may not be
compatible/approved/ recognized by MS Windows or Microsoft and it's
potentially dangerous to install them. So I stop any installation.
But my CD drive and CD burner continues to work well -- except for one
software back-up function.
Can I do anything to solve this problem?
The only unusual thing that happened just before receiving these messages is
I installed Quick Time Player and iTunes to watch an important video.
Afterward, I uninstalled both because they took a horrendous amount of space.
Can anyone help? My computer was great for a long time before this.
Thanks in advance.
ps: the problem refers to a CD drive named HL-DT-ST CDRW GCE-8487B which
came with my Dell PC and worked well before.

Hi ... You should run the New Hardward Found wizard and don't worry about
what Microsoft is saying , Its no big deal , just go through the steps and
install whats needed , Then afterward restart your computer and when your
back up and running ? Go view the " Devise Manager " area and see if you
have any yellow exclamation marks
