New hard drive.

I have a computer (I guess everyone guessed that)

It has Xp media on the hard drive. It is a Compaq and the "restore /
recovery" is in the D: partition.

The disk is slow and failing.

Any quick info links or suggested software packs to install / replace the
existing C / D drive? No, I don't wish to buy a new Xp disk.

So what exactly are you asking? Either contact Compaq for a replacement
drive or you use the restore capability provided by Compaq or purchase a
copy of XP. Or if the drive hasn't deteriorated too much, clone the drive
to a new one with something like Acronis True Image Home.

http://www.acronis.com/ Not free but very good and inexpensive. Plus,
you can download it for a free trial before purchasing.

Thanks to both. I have Acronis Disk Director (great product) and was
planning on "True Image" but was wanting to see if anyone suggested it
without prompting.
