New Firewire connection asks for SONY Camera drivers???

Hi all

I would appreciate your help regarding a new Firewire connection.

I just purchased a SONY DCR-TRV50E DV camera and whenever I try to connect
it thru its 1394 port to my computer the camera is recognized ( new hardware
found message ) and XP enters the New Hardware Wizard asking for drivers...
The camera comes with a CD but the only drivers on that CD are USB drivers.
I was under the impression that no drivers would be needed for a 1394
connection.

My computer has four 1394 ports ( 1 port in ASUS P4C800 MB, 1 port in Audigy
card, 2 ports in Matrox 2500 board ) and the same problem happens when I try
to connect to any of them.

One curious thing is the fact that when I go to the Device Manager and
right-click to the properties menu of any of the 1394 connections the driver
that is loaded is nic1394.sys. In my system32\drivers folder there is also a
ohci1394.sys. Shouldn't this be the active driver?

The fact is that, at the moment, the computer does not recognize the camera.
I tried with both Pinnacle 8.10 and Adobe Premiere 6.5 and neither program
sees the camera.

I'm running XP Pro SP1, all updates, on a 3.2Ghz Intel P4, 1Gb 800MHz RAM, 2
X 60Gb HD + 120Gb HD for video, Audigy 2, Matrox 2500 Video editing board,
Plextor PX708A DVD writer.

Any help most appreciated. Thanks in advance

Rui

Often with cameras / scanners etc it is neccessary to install the
applications *prior* to connecting.
Check the installation procedure in the book
