New file appears on desktop, when IE is closed.

A new file appears on desktop, when IE is closed. The file
stays there until it is deleted by the user. Next time IE
is closed down a similar file appears again. The file is
just named "~" & is 212Kb. Has anyone else come across
this little quirk?
 
I've seen it and deleted it - no properties -don't know what it is
