New Critical Updates and Outlook 2003

I have discovered a bug that occurs in Outlook 2003 on a
Windows XP computer when the 5 new security flaw updates
are installed.

In Outlook, when you first type a person email address or
select them from your Contacts, their email/name goes into
some sort of cache list so that the next time that you
send this person an email you just start typing and the
name will appear.

After installing the 5 Critical updates yesterday, those
people with Windows XP and Outlook 2003 lost all of those
names and email addresses that were in that cache list;
effectively their cache list was emptied.

Is there any way to make a copy of the cache list before
the update deletes it; or is their any known workaround?

Thanks,

Not seen any problems with the recent updates, the file you mentioned has a
*.nk2 extension and is located with the user file structure under Document
and Settings. You may have to turn on "Show hidden files and folders".

Thanks for the reply, however, I found no *.nk2 files even
with "Show Hidden" turned on.

Hmm on a default install the file should be here : C:\Documents and
Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook and the file takes on
the user name format i.e. Robert Crayk.nk2. This is what Outlook uses to
cache email addresses in this version and Outlook 2002

Look for it in "C:\Documents and Settings\<your profile>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook". There are a minimum of 4 files there, one of them
being "Outlook.NK2"
