New Computer Freezing/Blue Screen.

Hi,

I just constructed my new computer which is:

AMD athlon 3000+ 64 bit
K8V-X Asus Motherboard
Nvidia 6600GT
Western Digital 80gig SATA
Corsair 512mb ram

I have just installed windows XP, the motherboard
drivers, the graphics card drivers, directx and a few
windows updates... but i keep getting cursor type freezes
and blue screens randomly.

My blue screen error msgs have mentioned various things
such as...

IRQ not EQUAL OR LESS ...or something
some error with NV4disp.dll
some error with portcls.sys

I think i may have a conflict with my IRQ assignments?
How could i go about fixing these errors? Anybody have
any ideas?

Thanks heaps in advance.

Matt.

Nothing whatsoever to do with IRQs. The clue is in the dll. Have you
downloaded the latest driver for your graphics card? If you have, it may be
faulty.

Yes i have downloaded the latest via 4 in 1 drivers and
then i have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest nvidia
drivers from their primary download site and an alternate
mirror and it still freezes.

I forgot to mention the computer will run for about 10-
20 minutes if i do not plug in the supplemental power
supply for the graphics card. If i DO plug it in.. then
it usualy has faulty pixels after about 10 seconds and
freezes compltely 5 seconds after random pixels change
color.

The most frequent blue screen message is mentioning
NV4disp.dll, i have not seen the other errors for awhile
so maybe the via drivers have solved that issue.

Thanks so far!
Please help me!
