What have you given to go on?

What happens when you boot with the Windows XP Professional CD (after
setting your BIOS to boot from the CDROM first and pressing any key to boot
from CD when asked) and you format and install Windows XP?

Make sure the HD is set to master (jumper on the HD) and is connected to the
primary IDE channel, the data cable connects to the mobo and has two
connectors. The last connector should be connected to your HD, leaving the
middle for a second HD, (set for slave) if needed. the CD also needs to be
set to master and needs to be connected in the same way to the secondary IDE
channel. Press f1 at boot immediately at or before the INTEL blue screen, the
BIOS screen should appear. Set the CD player as the first boot device, save
your changes. While you are powered up open the CD and pop in the XP setup
disk. Reboot and follow the instructions to install XP. The first thing you
do after XP is installed is to take the disk that came with the mobo and
install the INF file for the chipset, follow all instructions on the Intel
disk. Load appropriate software and drivers after that keeping in mind you
will need to update drivers and the BIOS on Intel's web site.

Unfortunately Jaymon's posting applies to IDE drives: you have SATA.

First thing you need to check is that your BIOS is properly configured for
EVERY aspect of the hardware environment. This includes customising the BIOS
for your CPU, memory AND the type of 'RAID' or use oof the SATA drive. Read
your user guide cover to cover and then again to be sure that you understand
what's going on here and how to do it properly. Some Mobo manufacturers have
separate guides for the use and setup of SATA.

Once this is correct you need to create a driver disk for the SATA drive,
when Windows prompts to press F6 to install SCSI drivers during the initial
load, you have to press F6 and insert a floppy with the correct driver files.

XP will be able to partition and format during the installation.

If XP doesn't recognise the hard drive, then you have not used the corret
drivers or set the RAID correctly in BIOS.

intel's drivers. have tried every different which way with every know set of
drivers from intel at the F6 been at this on and off for a month am at my
wits end.

built, sell it and buy a computer that has been "Pre-Built" and has Windows
Installed 0on it.
