What "flavor" of operating system (I will assume it is Windows XP Home
Edition) are you trying to install? If you are using an OEM disk, such as
one that would have come with a Dell, Compaq, Gateway or other such system,
forget it. That disk is tied to the hardware it was sold with. If you are
using a retail copy, purchased legitimately, you need to boot from the disk.
Make sure the CD drive is listed as the first boot device in your system
BIOS.

Hi,

At what point does setup fail?
Is there an error message?
Have you disabled the motherboard av detection?

You will need to install the SATA drivers during the installation of XP in
order for this to work. While it's installing you'll be given the option to
do so (I forget the key right now but it's listed) and you'll need the
floppy that should have come with the computer in order to do so. SATA
drives require (all of them but there might be some exception to the rule)
that you install the drivers before you try to install the OS. XPs
installation has the process listed clearly. You'll need them. They're
usually on a floppy that came with the computer.

If they didn't then try the OEM?

At what stage does the install fail? If the installer can see the SATA drive
but won't install, you have a deeper problem. If you can't see the drive at
all, as Galen says, install the SATA software from the floppy that came with
your m/b. No floppy? Download it from you m/b manufacturer.
