Networking XP to a 64-bit printer setup

Otto Moehrbach

I had a simple 2 computer network at home, both with Windows XP, 32-bit.
They were networked through the router and the printer was shared. The
printer is a Canon MP530 that does not have an Ethernet jack, just a USB
hookup. All worked well, with both computers being able to access the one
printer.
Now I replaced the main computer with a 64-bit Vista machine. I downloaded
a 64-bit driver file for the printer and all is working with the printer and
the main computer. The 2 computers are still networked and both have
internet access as before. However, the second (XP) computer has no access
to the printer. How can I get the printer to work with the second (XP)
computer? Thanks for your time. Otto

Run the XP’s Home or Small Office Network File and Printer Sharing Wizard.

In “My Network Placesâ€: “Set up a Home or Small Office Networkâ€
OR under Accessories > Communications > Network Setup Wizard > Allow File
and Printer Sharing.
