Networking Screaming of Agony

Lee Sanders

I have a laptop computer running both a Cat5 NIC and a wireless PC Card
connected to a Linksys 54G router/gateway connected to an Alcatel STH modem
connecting to Bellsouth. Everything worked fine until I unplugged the
laptop so it worked only on the wireless mode, not a problem in the past. I
then connected a desktop computer running WinXP via Cat5 into the LAN. I
also run a printserver on the LAN which the laptop used w/o fail. Once the
desktop was plugged in it could not see the printserver nor access the
internet. Both have different computer names but the same work group name.
I enabled NetBios over LAN as one MS Knowledge base suggested but no change.
The real problem: neither computer can see each other nor can either
computer access the internet or the printserver. Any experienced help is
greatly appreciated.
