You've got a router which can be managed by Universal Plug n play, and
you've loaded the services for UPnP on your system. Alternatively, you
might be on a poorly segmented cable system and the router might, in fact,
belong to your neighbor!

Tell us more about how you connect to the Internet--what provider, and what
hardware is involved?

My router is a Dlink 524 and my provider is Earthlink. Please Help me fix
this problem. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks

Nothing really needs to be fixed--

Let's see--I have a DLink DI 634M

In Tools, Miscellaneous, you can enable Universal Plug and play--U PnP.

And, in add or remove programs, Windows Components, networking services,
there's Internet Gateway Device Discovery and control client, and UPnP User
Interface.

So--if you wanted to turn this off you could just disable it in the router's
web pages, under Tools, Miscellaneous.

However, I'd not recommend doing that--I suspect you'd just like to not see
the extra icon.

If I look in the left pane in My Network Places, there's Network Tasks at
the top, and the last choice in that is "Hide icons for networked UPnP
devices."

You may need to have the original XP CD handy to have this work--but that
choice will let you remove the icon, and perhaps some others. It is just as
easily reversable.
