Networking problem

My host pc is running XP Home and my Client has XP Pro. From the clent i can see the files on the host and share the internet and printer. From the host when i "view workgroup computers" I can see the client but when i click on the icon i get the following error message :
"Not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource." The network path was not found.
I can ping both IP addresses from the client but from the host I cannot ping my own address - could this be part of the problem

I have the same problem (only, I'm using XP Home on both PCs) and I did have a firewall, but when I saw your advice and turned it off, nothing changed. I appreciate the effort, but it didn't help, I'm still getting the same error message. Any other ideas

Tasha,

Un install the third-party firewall, using all procedures specified by
the vendor. Many times, folks report like you that file sharing
doesn't work with a firewall turned off, but find it does work when
the firewall is un installed.

Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
