we're trying to set up outlook on our office server so
that everyone in the office will be able to use the same
calendar. can this be done?

No, Outlook is a client program, not a server program. You need to run
Outlook locally on the client machines and connect to a server (mail server,
not necessarily Exchange) to share mail items. MDaemon and Exchange are
both viable solutions, as are others out there for servers.

this can be done with the sharing option built into
outlook ...it does not have to be installed on the
server ...just setup a calendar on a single PC then click
on the sharing option from the file menu and add the users
who will have access to the calendar. Make sure everyone
has net folders installed on the addin manager within
outlook.
