networking difficulties 1-way TO a win2k pc

Steve Taylor

Here's my setup:

I have a desktop PC running Win2k, a laptop running
winXP, and another laptop running Win2k.

All 3 machines are in the same workgroup. Login IDs
exist on all 3 that are the same id/password.

I have a DSL router setup, with all 3 local area network
connections setup to obtain IP automatically. All 3 pcs
pick up an ip address within the local network (i.e.
192.168.1.xxx).

All 3 can get to the internet, all three can ping each
other by IP address AND by name.

However, no one can connect to the Win2k desktop PC. Any
thoughts?

Try enabling, file and printer sharing on ur Win2k machine
and on the other machines as well.

Its under My Network places --> Local Area Connection

Hi,
What about checking the services that allow other
machines to connect to the machine,
- Server Service
- Workstation Service

Set these to start automatically when OS starts.

Also enable Client for Microsoft networks, in the Local
Area Network if it hasn't been done so.

Can the W2K machine access the other machines?
What about also checking in the network card properties
whether the Duplex mode has been set to Full Duplex
instead of Half Duplex

Regards,
Nilantha.
