Networking 2 PC's

Mike

I am trying to share a printer between 2 computers. I can
go from PC1 and see PC2's shared items, but I cannot go
from PC2 to PC1 and see its shared items. I keep getting:
\\Iris659-01 is not accessible.

Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested
logon type at this computer.

I have tried logging both machines in as Adminstrator, I
have shared PC1's C: drive, I have put service pack 4 on,
I have uninstalled all neworking components including the
network card and reinstalled them. I have set the
workgroup to the same name, I have set it to different
names, I have setup brand new Users on both machines.
Nothing works.
Any Ideas are appreciated.

Make sure all computers are in the same workgroup and that all useraccounts
exist on all computers (W2K/XP's). Got File- and printersharing loaded? Is
Netbios over TCP/IP enabled (Advanced properties of TCP/IP, tab WINS)?

I am struggling with the same problem, small twist. I
have 3 computers on the workgroup. 2 run XP. 1 runs
W2k. The one that runs W2k also is the effective print
server. I succeed to get everything working for awhile,
then BAM! I no longer can access the W2k computer. All
computers (incl the W2k computer) can see access the XP
computers. I do see the W2k computer, but get the same
\\Computer is not accessible message. I am sure I have
changed some setting, but I have absolutely no idea what.

I have checked all of Marina's suggestions, to no avail.

Help appreciated,
Eric

I had the same problem and found that my firewall, sygate personal firewall,
had a checkbox that allowed or denied access to others on my network.
amazing how those things work. I set it to allow others on my network to use
my files and printers and voila, both computers can now share files and can
be seen in network neighborhood.
