i am kind of new to this and was wondering is it hard to patch my two
computer together through an rj45 crossover and two lan cards. i would also
like to be able to make it so i can access my main machine and its programmes
through the second, i spose it would be like using it as a sever, it also
needs to split the web connection

any help would be handy, thanks

It's not difficult, if you plan what you're doing, and test as you go.

perhaps i should have also mentioned that my broad band is alos hard wired
into my desktop, this essentialy means that i have two network cards in my
desktop, could this be the problem, could it be a hardware clash or somthing
along those lines. if it is what is the best way over it.

i did speak breifly to one of my local computer shops who said it could be
because it is trying to listen to two networks at the same time, i did not
think of this.

just so you know i haved searched the net endlessly and found that using a
static ip address and subnetmask seemed to get rid of the problem but the
desktop appears in the network places but cannot be accessed but he laptop
does not appear on my desktop and i have tried just about everything i can
find, any help with ip address and subnetmask would help and anything else
for that fact.

many thanks craig smith
