Network Trash Folder

Darren

This has been an issue for some time, but really need a
resolution. We have several mac's connecting to an IOMEGA
NAS When they delete files and empty trash, next time they
attach to the server (Win 2003) the files reappear.

Also when opening a file from the same server, Adobe Ill.
and they save the changes it won't let them save the
changes, they must create a new name.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

Darren

Hi Darren!

This isn't a fix but might be a viable solution for you.

You can force users to have to immediately delete the files (bypassing
the Trash) by making them part of the group that is listed in
Users/Groups rather than Owner. Only when users are part of a group set
as the Owner of a Mac volume will they be able to keep files in the
network trash.

Hope this helps! bill

Applications may or may not lock the files and prevent users from saving
with the same name. This is not something done by the file system. The
only other option is this scenario is working on the file locally and
replace when completed.
