OSX10.3.3 -->Win2K trash immediately?

Under OS9 if we trashed something off our Win2K server
it just placed it into your trash and did not REALLY delete
till you emptied trash can.
(And I know this is somehow tied to Network trash
folder I to see on the server and if I look in there I
see modified dates for today but I'm guessing
those are working for my OS9 boxes still.)

NOW
using 10.3.3 if you hit delete something or even do
as a drag to the trash can we get an alert saying
it will be deleted immediately....

YIKES
I didn't think this a big deal till somebody accidentally
got confused in column view and deleted a whole
directory of live jobs instead of a certain file in
one particular folder.

Is this just the way it is or do I need to configure
something on the server (or on the OSX client side)

any help greatly appreciated

Thanks
Mark

That's just the way it is. It's been that way since OSX came out, it's not
specific to 10.3.3. From what I can gather, there are no plans to make it
work like it did in OS 9.

On a Mac OS 9 system...

If a user logs on as the "Owner" of a Mac volume then he has the option
to drag files to the trash and they will wait to be emptied.

If a user logs on as "User/Group" or "Everyone" of a Mac volume then he
will be forced to immediately delete the files.

Since Mac OS X has a different permissions system, this is probably what
has changed and forced users to delete file immediately.
