I have a LAN with internet connection sharing on a dialup
internet conneciton... it works great... but some sites
like Yahoo! finance and others won't come up on the
network staions... no error codes in the event viewer on
stations... all running Win2k except one on Win98, but all
stations have the same problem.

Can ya help me out?

do you use ICS on windows 2000 pro?
do you use router with firewall?
do you use personal firewall?
please post more details of your system and networks.
if you have firewall, check productivity control or filtering.

Sorry so vague...

Yes, have ICS on Win 2k pro... work stations are win 2k
pro also except one on Win 98... all stations have same
problem... just some sites like Yahoo! Finance won't come
up, but they will bring up Yahoo! main page...

No Firewall at all... and network is a "work group"...
only hard wired Linksys Hubs on network...

Thanks for your time with this.
Charlie :~)

what is "won't come up" means.
is Internet explorer have any messege display?
can you post these message.
(just type message from that)

Is your internet explorer's Content Advisor are enable?
(it is Tools > Internet Options > Content > Content Advisor)
if so just disable it.
also add finance.yahoo.com apply to trusted site
(Tools > Internet Options > Security)

Ok... I think it must be in my main unit(with ICS),
because all stations have same problem(but on it no
problem)... some kind of time out or security thing I
imagine...

The error I get in IE6 is "Cannot find server"... "The
page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The
Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or
you may need to adjust your browser settings."

My "Content Advisor" is disabled on all units...

I did try adding finance.yahoo.com and
http://www.yahoo.finance/r/f1 to my "Trusted Sites"...
still no go...

Hmmmmn, could it be some kind of security timeout on main
unit with ICS?

Thanks for the help...
Charlie

your Internet explorer's cookie are enable?

fi you type 216.109.119.250 on internet explorer's address bar and hit enter(or click go)
what happen?

do you have right DNS setting?
If your DNS setting are not right or Your isp dns has problem,
it happen like that too.

first, check your DNS (Primary and secondary) are match with ISP's DNS.
second ping DNS, or contact your ISP

also your internet explorer's internet options LAN settings are same as below?

Run regedit.exe and goto:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces.

There will likely by more than one interface listed under Interfaces.
The one you want will have 25 lines or more, and the others should
only have about 10 lines.
Under the "Name" heading you should find "MTU". Click on it and choose
Modify from the Edit dropdown menu.
Make sure Decimal is selected and change the 1492 to 1458.
Click OK, close Regedit, and reboot.

It's a long story but it seems large packets get split on some routes
and while this is normal, some secure sites find these suspect and
drop them without telling anybody.
