Network Settings?

Machine A

Nic A1 > broadband
Nic A2 > Machine B

Machine B

Nic B1 > Machine A

Question 1:
Machine B has 2 network connections setup?
1 Internet connection to Machine A
1 LAN connection to Machine A

Shouldn't there just be the one LAN connection doing both jobs? Can I delete
the Internet connection?

Question 2:

On Machine A, should i share internet connection on Nic A1 or Nic A2? I
didn't think there'd be a choice, but it seems to work which ever I choose,
but i expect one way is better than another?

Disclaimer: if you are successfully sharing the internet, it may be
better not to try and fix it.

Question 1 discussion:

If on Machine B, there is some mention of Internet Gateway (esp. in
status), then that is Completely normal. That feature allows you to
control/view status of the internet connection without having to
walk/drive to machine A.

If you are annoyed by it, try disabling the SSDP service (services.msc),
or remove the Internet Gateway Discovery and Control feature (add/remove
windows components -> network services).

Question 2 discussion:

It's better if NIC A1 (ie. the one that actually connects to internet)
is shared. In the properties for the NIC A1, check the box "share this
internet connection". NIC A2 will then have Ip address 192.168.0.1, and
will give Machine B an Ip address.

This is how network setup wizard does it, it's how I've set up my
computers, and it produces less burden on your isp's servers (ie. no
need to give extra Ip addresses).
