I've got 4 pc's on a home network [a workgroup, not domain].

All of them can see shares on each other except one of them. This one
[let's call it #1] can see two of the other three, but not the fourth one
[#4]. The fourth one can see it [and, the other two].

Three of the pc's are Win XP, SP2; one is Win 2K. The #1 and #4 are both
Win XP.
#1 and #2 pc's are connected wirelessly, #3 and #4 are wired. Router is a
Linksys WRTG.

When trying to access #4 from #1, there's an error message that says it's
not accessible.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Check the firewall has file and printer sharing in the list of
exceptions.

1. Check to see that they are all set for DHCP and that they are getting
their IP addresses from the router. They should all be on the same subnet
(first three sets of IP numbers match). Try a repair of the connections.

2. See if 1 can ping 4 by name and by IP, and same from 4 to 1. If IP works
and name doesnt' then check the hosts file
(windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) for entries that don't belong (like 1
and 4 pointing to the wrong IP).

Yes. They all are using DHCP. They are all on the same subnet
[192.168.1.xxx] Tried repair of connections - no change.

Can ping 4 from 1 and 1 from 4 using computer name.

Argg!

Any idea of what to try next?

Thanks

Windows firewall is disabled on all pc's. ZoneAlarm is installed on all
pc's. The local network is in the Trusted Zone on all PC's.

I've isolated the problem to #4. By reverting #4 with a previous image, #1
is able to connect to #4.
=> What could be configured/corrupted on #4 that allows 2 other pc's to see
it, but not the third - i.e., not #1?

The error message is:
[#4] is not accessible. You might not have permissions to use this network
resource. Contact administrator.
Access denied.
