Network Places

In XP, how in the world do you keep XP from storing information on all the
network places you visit? Eventually, the list of network places gets
large, and anything I do in Explorer starts to get very slow.

Is there a way to remove all these without loosing all my IE History and
such?

Hi:

If you want the best general purpose file cleaner out then use CCleaner.
It's free and here is the download website:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner.html

You can adjust the settings for whatever you wish, but I have found that
the settings that are established when you install work fine with no further
adjustments required.

Thanks, cool tool, but doesn't remove all the items in My Network Places....

Anything listed in "My Network Places " can be deleted...with the Exception
of "Entire network"and its sub folders......unless you wish to access them
quickly.
The History folder for IE stores it info in a completely different
place....under Documents&Settings/user name/local settings/history

First off, you can delete any of the entries that you don't
want displayed in "My Network Places" To prevent new ones from
being created, do the following:

Go to Start ->Control Panel -> Folder Options.
On the View page, remove the check mark next to "Automatically
check for network folders and printers".

Keep in mind that you would now have to manually add entries to
"My Network Places".
