There are several different ways to control system icons on
the Desktop. I use and recommend TweakUI (v.1.13).

To remove the old icon in c:\my documents\my music, you
may need to alter its properties (attributes) e.g. rename it,
make it non-system, read/write etc. When you have put
the link back on your desktop, you can try these removal
methods: (but having a duplicate does no harm.)

If you have a good recent System Restore Point you might try running System
Restore. If it works in returning the My Network Places folder back to its
original location and deleting your shortcut icon then this would be the
simplest solution.

You said that you moved the My Network Places folder, but you did not say
that you had moved it back to its original location. This is most important,
so if System Restore does not work then post back your results, and also the
current location of your My Network Places folder.

I have tried system restore, no change
My network places is where it should, when I go to start menu it opens
up and there it is with all the other MY folders, but while I was playing
with the mouse pad I somehow moved the MY network places in to the MY music
folder,
and the icon in the My music folder looks to be a shortcut icon of My
network Places icon, when i try to select it and delete the shortcut it will
not delete and in fact I think it tries to bring up network places,
how do I delete this shortcut, again thanks in advance

Right click on the shortcut icon and scroll down to Properties and click on
it and tell me exactly what it shows the "Target" as being.

We can get rid of this icon, but I want to be sure about things. BTW how did
you get your My Network Places folder that you moved to your My Music folder
back to its original location?

Does the icon in your My Music folder have a Name beside it with Size and
Type?
