network messaging

I like to know if there is any pc to pc messaging program like the old
winpopup.exe.

Currently I have XP Professional on one machine (server) and Win 98 on the
second machine.

Now the Win 98 machine has a file winpopup.exe but I could not find anything
for XP Prof. Is there one for XP?

Also, can I use each program appropiate for each operating system to connect
to one another?

I do not want to use MS Messenger or any other internet chat program. I
basically want to use a messager between the two computers only.

Note: I have a wireless router connecter the two computers.

Thanks for you time.

Open a command prompt and type:

NET SEND /?

for help with the Net Send command, build into Windows 2000 and XP. Works
with WinPopup - in fact, WinPopup was created for computers that don't have
NET SEND capability.

I kenw about net send but I was hoping for a program that can sit in the
taskbar and click on it to type a quick message to another computer on my
wireless server and the other person will have a window pop up automaticaly
to read the message.

I haven't tried it but could I use winpopup.exe that came with the Win 98
machine on my XP Prof?
